Georges Henri Rouault, French Fauvist artist who died in 1958 in Paris. This work, titled Judas, measures 10 x7 inches inside the frame. With the frame, this measures 13.5 x 10.5. This piece weighs 1 pound, 7 ounces. In a brown, wooden frame, this piece can be hung or stand on its own. Printed in Japan, likely in the 1960s era, this is a rare print. A student of Gustave Moreau, Rouault was born poor but worked his way through the Ecole des Beaux-Artes. His Impressionist works were influenced by Vincent Van Gogh. At the end of his life, Rouault burned 300 of his own paintings because he did not believe he would live to finish them.
