Ansonia mantle clocks, made in the 19th century, often included clock toppers--basically sculptures. This Cavalier was one such sculpture. It was actually positioned beside the clock, not on top of it. It measures about 6 inches high, 9 inches wide and 3 inches deep. The sword is an original part of the piece, but it is now loose. It can be reattached, but it looks just as good not attached. I prefer it tucked under his left arm at the wrist. This is a heavy piece, weighing 5 pounds, 9 ounces.
